My cousin, Tamara recently moved to New York and although she is dearly missed by the family we are extremely proud and supportive of her (I am constantly bugging Tam on FaceBook, Viber and Heytell). She's currently celebrating Thanksgiving with her maternal cousins, Sarah and Anna and posted a series of photos on FaceBook (thank goodness for technology!). Happy Thanksgiving Tam! Hope you're having lots of fun. Bring on the turkey with cranberry sauce, sweet potato mash with marshmallows (apparently it's the thing to do) and pumpkin pie! x.

Yesterday I borrowed three novels from the library* in an attempt to brush up on my grammar and vocabulary (it's concerning how quickly your brain turns to mush when you stop reading). The first one that caught my eye was, 'Monsieur Montespan: A Novel' by Jean Teule. The next, 'Tinkers' by Paul Harding. And the last, 'The Bonfire of the Vanities' by Tom Wolfe. I'm starting with the latter as it's the thickest (I don't know how long it will take to complete) and I've been meaning to read it for a while. Better get cracking! x.

*Until recently I feared borrowing/touching books from the library. It was a case of hygiene. We don't know where the book has been. For all we know, the last person who held the book had a cold and sneezed all over it or worse, turned the pages whilst on the toilet. I got over it when my income could no longer support my love of books... $20 a fortnight versus $0 a fortnight!

I'm a HUGE fan of the French band, Phoenix (j'adore Thomas Mars et Sofia Coppola). I remember watching them perform live at The Factory in 2007 and thinking, "This is the best concert ever!"* Since then, I've been to every Sydney concert of theirs and have seen them grow/reach international success. If you have a chance check out this short clip on the boys. x.

*In 2010, I saw The Whitest Boy Alive perform live at Music Hall of Williamsburg (with Steph, who attended Phoenix's concert with me). I have to say, these guys are amazing live. So much so, they JUST beat Phoenix as 'The Best Concert Ever.' In fact, Steph and I are seeing Erlend and co. perform with New Navy at Sydney Festival 2012. Can't. Wait.

WOW. Taylor Tomasi Hill is moving up, up, up in the fashion world! The New York Times confirmed she will be leaving her position as Style and Accessories Director at Marie Claire for Artistic Director at Moda Operandi. No doubt, there will be many changes but in what way and to what degree? Nonetheless this is all very exciting! Congratulations Taylor T! x.

P.S. Check out Taylor's most recent interview with WWD/The Coveteur
P.P.S. I can't wait to see Taylor's collaboration with Sarah Rutson for Lane Crawford (debuting January 2012)

Iris Apfel on style,
'You can't try to be somebody you're not; that's not style. If someone says, "Buy this, you'll be stylish," you won't be stylish because you won't be you. You have to learn who you are first and that's painful.' Via.

Happy Friday - wishing you a wonderful weekend! x.
